Czech blossom honey

mixed: Brassica napus, fruit trees (Prunus, Malus, Pyrus) and other flowering plants

The most common Czech honey: a blend of nectar from rapeseed, fruit trees and whatever else is flowering near the hive. It is usually light in colour and every batch differs a little by place and year.

Origin
throughout Czechia
Colour
34 mm · white
Season
April – July
Plant
mixed: Brassica napus, fruit trees (Prunus, Malus, Pyrus) and other flowering plants

Colour varies by year and place; the value given is typical of the variety, not a measurement of one jar. Where a source describes the colour only in words (such as ‘light amber’), we convert it to the middle of the matching band of the Pfund scale, so the figure is approximate. The season follows the sources or, failing that, the flowering time of the plant in that area.

Because the Czech landscape is so varied, only a small share of Czech blossom honeys meet the definition of a single-flower honey; the ‘Český med’ standard allows at most 18% water, stricter than the EU’s 20%.
