soapberry family · Sapindaceae
Lychee
The genus has a single species, the lychee, an evergreen tree of the soapberry family native to southern China and grown throughout the tropics and subtropics for its juicy fruit. In spring it bears large sprays of small, nectar-rich flowers, and bees are important for pollinating the orchards.
